![]() You're going to know these Hiragana characters reeaaalllyyyy well! (Admittedly, this is undermined on the occasions when you get the exact same group of enemies multiple times in a row and just input the same response without thinking.)Ī flaw in Hiragana Battle's turn-based system is having to choose every party member's actions at the beginning of the round, which prevents you from reacting to unforeseen events. The advantage Hiragana Battle has over other JRPGs is being able to tell yourself that you're learning from the infuriating frequency of the fights. Triggering encounters every few steps when you just want to explore/leave can be frustrating. Like the JRPGs that inspired Hiragana Battle's gameplay, it can get tedious when walking through dungeons. I first played Hiragana Battle in 2017, subsequently played the two other Learn Japanese To Survive games, and recently revisited this one for some light revision.
